Counterfeit Products Worth Dh30m Seized by Ajman Police

A whopping 85,413 counterfeit products worth Dh30 million have been seized by Ajman Police which was being cleared as originals of international brands.

The fake products were taken to UAE by 11 Chinese which included 7 men and 4 women. These people were arrested by the police of Ajman after they suspected them to carry huge quantity of counterfeit goods that looked like the original ones.

“The police received a complaint from an Arab national who is an agent of the renowned brand Louis Vuitton. He told the cops that he was aware of some Chinese men and women who were storing a huge quantity of duplicates of brand Louis Vuitton, including bags, wallets, accessories and sunglasses,” said Lt Colonel Ghaith Khalifa Al Kaabi, director of Al Nuaimia general police station of Ajman Police.

The police immediately acted on the complaint and launched a probe and found out that the suspects were storing the duplicate products at one of the villas located at Al Nuaimia area to be sold at the China market.

The police got approval from the public prosecution and raided the villa and arrested the 11 Chinese.

A lot of fake products were seized by the police including popular brands like LV, DKNY, Dior, MCM, Tiffany, Channel, Burberry, Hermes, Prada, Polo, Adidas, Nike and Puma. Forged mobile phones of Apple and Samsung were also confiscated.

Warning the public, Lt Colonel Al Kaabi urged people not to buy fake products and report the selling of counterfeit products as it is a violation of the copyright act. He further added that anyone selling fake products will face hefty fines.
